Streusel Coffee Cake

For those of us who wish to indulge in our sweet tooth in the morning, this classic cake is warm ,buttery and best of all simple to make. There are many slight variations on this crumbly comfort food, but for those without an old family recipe I offer you this fan favorite.

Streusel Topping

  • 1/4 cup salted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon


  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter (salted or unsalted)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How it’s done

Pre heat oven to 325 F
Butter and flour an 8-inch or 9-inch cake pan
For the streusel, combine brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour and cinnamon. After mixing add the room temperaturebutter. Work mixture until crumbly and set aside.
In another bowl add 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder and salt. Mix thoroughly and set aside.
In a electric mixer ,beat egg then sugar then melted butter.Afterwards add milk and vanilla until well mixed. Now add your flour mixture to finish your batter.
Spread batter on your cake pan.Cover evenly with your topping.
Bake for 25-30 minutes
