How to Fake Bacon Using Coconut

Whether you’ve gone vegan or vegetarian, or you’re just looking for a healthier bacon option, coconut “bacon” is an easy way to get in your bacon fix without actually eating bacon. This meatless meat is cheaper than regular bacon, has much less unhealthy fat, and tastes delicious!

Here is what you are going to need:

-3 cups of flaked, unsweetened coconut
-3 tbsp. gluten free tamari or soy sauce
-2 tbsp. liquid smoke
-2 tbsp. maple syrup
-1 tsp. smoked paprika (optional)
-Salt to taste

Here is what you are going to need to do:

-preheat oven to 325 degrees F

-Whisk together tamari, liquid smoke, and maple syrup and smoked paprika, if desired

-Add in coconut, and toss with above mixture until combined

-Spread onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, tossing every fie minutes

-Sprinkle on sea salt to taste, and dump it out onto a plate
