Easy No-Bake Fruit and Nut Granola Bars
Store-bought granola bars are often high in sugar and preservatives, decreasing their overall nutritional value. By making your own at home, you can keep the delicious taste of these convenient snacks, while boosting the healthy aspects. And the best part: you can substitute any of your favorite nuts or dried fruits, leading to a customized taste perfect for you! Or you could go for a classic combination – use molasses and pecans with cinnamon and nutmeg for pecan pie, or peanuts, raisins, and chocolate candies for a trail mix bar.
No-Bake Granola Bars
Yield: 8 bars
1/4 c butter
1/4 c honey or molasses
1 c oats
2 c combined of: chopped nuts, seeds, or dried friuts
Salt and spices to taste
Combine the butter, honey, salt, and spices in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until smooth.
Turn the heat to low, then stir in the oats first, followed by the nuts, seeds, and fruit. Stir together until completely coated.
Line an 8 inch square dish with wax paper, then pour in the granola mixture. Place more wax paper over top and press firmly to pack together.
Place in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight, then remove from the pan and slice into bars. Keep stored in the fridge until ready to eat!
