Healthy Crispy Tofu with Sweet and Sour Sauce

1 Large Block of Organic Tofu, Drained
3 Tablespoons of Tomato Sauce
1/2 of Water
3 Cups of Vegetable Oil
3 Garlic Cloves, Minced
1 Cup of Carbonated Soda Water
1/2 Teaspoon of Ground Black Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon of Fresh Ginger, Grated
1/4 Teaspoon of Spicy Chili Flakes
1/4 Cup of Rice Vinegar
6 Tablespoons of Cornflour
3 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce
1 Teaspoon of Sea Salt
1 Cup of Rice Flour
1 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1/2 Cup of Organic Agave Nectar

(1.) Please drain your organic tofu and chop it into small bite-size pieces.

(2.) Using a small bowl, mix together two teaspoons of cornflour and water. Set these mixed ingredients aside for later.

(3.) Using a large saucepan, add two teaspoons of vegetable oil and place the burner over medium heat. Next, add the chili flakes, freshly grated ginger, and minced garlic. Saute these ingredients for one full minute. Next, add to the saucepan the organic agave nectar, vinegar, tomato sauce, soy sauce, and some sea salt. Using a whisk, stir the ingredients until the sauce begins to bubble. Finally, add in the cornflour mixture that you set aside earlier. Heat the ingredients for approximately 10 minutes, stirring the sauce occasionally. Once completed, remove the sauce from the stove.

(4.) Next, place the vegetable oil into a medium-size saucepan. Heat the oil until it reaches 375-degrees Fahrenheit.

(5.) Using a mixing bowl, mix together the rice flour, the last of the cornflour, sea salt, garlic powder, and ground black pepper. Once done, stir in the carbonated soda water and stir until the ingredients are consistent.

(6.) Coat the tofu pieces with the mixture from Step 5. Carefully place each tofu piece into the heated vegetable oil. Deep fry the tofu for 2 – 3 minutes or until it is golden and crispy.

(7.) Toss your deep fried and crispy tofu in the sweet and sour sauce until each piece is evenly coated. Serve the tofu hot over a plate of steamed white rice or steamed vegetables.
